April Member(s) of the Month! Dani and Suzi

Who are they and why are they the Members of the Month

Dani and Suzi are staples of the CrossFit Sanitas Community! They have consistent, energetic, and fun members of CrossFit Sanitas for about 3 years going now. We here at CrossFit Sanitas could not imagine the gym without them. Without a doubt they always come in with smiles on their faces ready to work hard and have fun! We feel extremely privileged to have both of them in our community.

Here’s a little something about Dani!

  1. What made you join CrossFit Sanitas?
    Jeremy was the primary driving force. Our friend Brian Z, a member now at Sanitas, told Jeremy how much fun it was and convinced us to try it. I was at first resistant because I loved watching the Kardashians on the stairmaster for an hour.
  2. Are there any goals you have for 2018?
    To try to do as many WODS Rx as possible to start. Would love to get kipping pullups but that will only happen if I actually try it and a handstand. I could have unlimited goals but that is not realistic right now.
  3. What has been the biggest challenge you have faced since starting CrossFit?
    Letting go of my ego and just realizing I am not the same as other people.
  4. What are you favorite Movements in CrossFit?
    Unlike Suzi, I like box jumps, Overhead squats,  SHSPU is my favorite and back squatting (though it scares me a little). I also like when there is running to push me. Lunges and anything with endurance.
  5. What are your least favorite movements?
    I could go on and on but then why would I be there? Snatching because I am so bad at it.
  6. What advice would you give to a new CrossFitter?
    Just like Suzi said, don’t compare yourself to others. There will always be someone better then you at something and someone worse. It’s not an ego thing, you have to have your own personal goals and just move on those goals and not others.
  7. What is your most memorable CrossFit moment?
    Meeting my crossfit wife and yes no repping her on the open – she deserved it – but she did awesome
  8. What is one fun fact that people might not know about you?
    I studied abroad in Israel and Spain and immersed myself in their cultures. Learned 4000 years of Jewish History and traveled to all the places we were studying. Lived with a Spanish family in Spain and was a big sister to two small children.

Here’s a little something about Suzi!

1) How did you get started with CrossFit? What was the primary driving factor?
 I started CrossFit because I was in Croatia with someone that talked about Crossfit Sanitas the entire trip. I said I’d join when we got back. 2 days after I got home, I started Bootcamp with Butts and Matt as coaches. Primarily, I wanted to be more fit, lose weight and challenge myself. I also wanted to be able to do handstands while drinking in piazzas.
2) What are your goals for the 2018 CrossFit year?
 Kipping pull-ups!
3) What has been your biggest challenge you have had to overcome since starting CrossFit?
Putting my 2 dogs to sleep within a year. Dani and I actually both lost a pup last year within a week of each other. She lost Ralphie and I lost Diver. I just lost my dog Mylee 3 weeks ago and Dani’s been going through surgery for Vinny.
4) What is your favorite CrossFit Workout/Movement?
I like double-unders, and push press
5) What is your least Favorite CrossFit Workout/Movement?
I don’t think I need to answer this one. ; ) *Coaches note: we know its Box Jumps
6) What advice can you give to those just starting out in CrossFit?
Stay positive and listen to the coaches. Leave your ego at the door and don’t cherry pick the wods!
7) Lastly… what is your most memorable moment in Crossfit?
Dani no repping me 6x during the open workout with the toes to bar a couple of years ago. I actually was able to do them back then. I think she cursed me. LOL!

Fun fact: I was the only female coxswain on the University of Delaware men’s varsity crew team. Also, my first name is really Marjorie.
